YouTube Q&A - User Comment by Neal Rush

Comment by neal rush: "IIThessalonians 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them a strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: How can we judge ANYONE, (righteously or otherwise), when God Himself is deluding people????? And.....who is it that is believing the lies that god is causing them to believe???" Reply: Good questions Neal. Your answers are actually in the same chapter for the verse you referenced.

To get the correct meaning for scriptures we must always study the verses in the context of the chapters where they're found. For example, your verse 2 Thess. 2:11 in context is referring to those people who willingly choose wickedness and ignore God's truth, and so by their own choice they will condemn themselves. We discover this meaning and the correct answers to your questions by comparing both questions against the message in context.

Your first question is, "How can we judge ANYONE, (righteously or otherwise), when God Himself is deluding people?????" So I must first find out who is "ANYONE" and "people". Next is to find out if God's deluding those people. The 2nd question, "And.....who is it that is believing the lies that god is causing them to believe???" Here I need to learn who's actually going to believe and what/who's lies.

So in context, I first see that "ANYONE/people" are actually a "them" (God sends them) and "them" are those who delight in wickedness (who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness). So these aren't just any people. These are wicked people who are pretty much begging to be condemned at that point and time. They've ignore God's every truth and chance for salvation. It appears to me that God's decided a time's coming when He says this is the end of the race for those who've chosen to hate God and follow satan. There would have to be a last chance stopping point, especially since God's prophecies have already been proclaimed and will occur according to when God has specified. These are the same people you asked about in your second question (They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.) who will believe satan's lie (The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie).

2 Thess. 2:9-12, "The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness."
