The Poor Mans Entertainment

I just want to get stoned or drunk and then have some crazy sex! How many times do people say or think that very thought each day I wonder? I've had my share of drunk days when I was young but it wasn't a occurrence that carried over into my adult life even though I grew up poor and struggling. Why do the poor always go for drugs and alcohol I ask myself.?.

Two reasons I can think of: we're poor and our heart are sinful. I'm no different in that assessment! As a poor individual, there aren't many options available in the form of entertainment that might satisfy this sinners heart--it's not like I can just pack up and fly to Tennessee for the weekend or go to St. Louis's finest outlet stores for brand name clothes so I can look good at work. So how else to escape the poor lifestyle and be entertained both at the sane time... A sinful heart like mine might naturally choose drugs or alcohol. Do you know anyone else who might or does?

We have so many other things we can do for fun in our off time like read a good book, study the Bible, walk in the park, fishing, roller skating, etc... How about you, when's the last time you tried on a pair of skates??? What do you usually do? Let me guess. You get off work, get home, turn on the brain-washing TV set and vedge-out right? Maybe you hit up you regular bar, you know, the one where everyone knows your name. Then the weekend come and all we do is drink, drink, drink...

If that's you then you're doing exactly what the devil below wants. If you're a believer, then his demons have made sure you're none effective in any sort of ministry to others, and you on the path to back-sliding. Satan's goals are to make the believer stop sharing the Gospel and stop practicing our faith in Christ our Lord. Maybe, oneday even have you walk away from your Father just like the wayward son who didn't realize he need his father until he was wishing he could eat as well as the pigs he was feeding. Come back... Come back to your Father and he will take you back in...
